Daleem is a tasty dish that is a bit difficult to make. Daleem is a special and most famous dish prepared during Ramadan and Moharram ul Haram. Make delicious Daleem with mutton or beef. Now make it at home and let us how it was.

Ingredients

  • Beef/Mutton Stock
  • Soup bones ½
  • Water 1 liter

 Qorma:

  • Oil ¼ Cup
  • Onion sliced 2 large
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 & ½ tbs
  • Red chili powder 2 tbs or to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tbs
  • Salt 1 tbs or to taste
  • Bay leaves 2 large
  • Cinnamon sticks 2
  • Cloves 4-5
  • Black peppercorns 8-10
  • Water 2-3 tbs
  • Mutton/Beef boneless ½ kg
  • Water 1 liter

 Lentils mixture:

  • Wheat ½ Cup soaked overnight
  • Barley ½ Cup soaked overnight
  • Split Bengal gram ½ Cup soaked overnight
  • Split orange lentil ¼ Cup soaked overnight White lentil ¼ Cup soaked overnight
  • Split yellow lentil ¼ Cup soaked overnight
  • Water 2 liter
  • Bay leaves 2 large
  • Turmeric powder 2 Tsp
  • Salt 1 tbs or to taste
  • Water 1 liter or as required
  • Mace powder ½ tsp
  • Nutmeg powder ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tbs
  • Water ½ Cup
  • Chickpea powder roasted 1 tbs
  • Ginger julienne
  • Green chilies chopped 1-2
  • Mint leaves handful

 

Tadka:                                 

  • Oil ¼ Cup
  • Onion slices 1

Method

  1. In the pot, add soup bones, water, and mix, bring it to boil, cover & cook on low flame for 40-45 minutes.
  2. Strain stock, discard bones & set aside.
  3. In a pot, add oil, onion and fry until brown.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and mix well, add red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cloves, black pepper corns and mix well.
  5. Add water and mix, add mutton/beef boneless meat and mix well for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add water, mix well and bring it to boil, cover and cook until meat is tender(approx. 1 hour).
  7. Remove bay leaves and mash/shred meat and set aside.
  8. In the pot, add wheat, barley, split Bengal gram, split orange lentil, white lentil, split yellow lentil, water, bay leaves, turmeric powder, salt and mix well, bring it to boil, cover and cook on low flame until lentils are tender (approx. 1 hour).
  9. Remove bay leaves and blend the whole mixture with the hand blender.
  10. Add prepared beef stock and mix well.
  11. Add shredded meat and mix well.
  12. Add water and mix well.
  13. Add mace powder, nutmeg powder, cumin powder and mix well.
  14. In water, add chickpea powder and mix well.
  15. Now add this mixture in daleem, mix well and cook for 5-6 minutes.
  16. Add ginger, green chilies and mint leaves, mix well.
  17. In frying pan, add oil and onion, fry until golden brown.
  18. Add fried onion in daleem and serve.
