Chickpeas Biryani 5/5 (4)

Biryani is a popular rice dish that is made with vegetables or meat and also with chickpeas. This flavorful Chickpeas biriyani is filling for a meal and rich in protein and fiber. I was happy to see each grain of rice separated the way I wanted. Here the recipe


  • Oil as required
  • Onion Sliced 3 Large
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 TBS
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Tomatoes Chopped 2
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste
  • Biryani Masala 1 packet
  • Dried plums 5-6
  • Yogurt ½ Cup
  • Chickpeas boiled 1 & ½ Cup
  • Mint leaves ½ bunch
  • Green chilies 1-2
  • Water 2 TBS or as required
  • Yogurt ½ Cup
  • Rice ½ kg (soaked 1 hour & boiled with whole spices & salt)
  • Yellow food color ¼ tsp + Water as required Kewra essence ½ Tsp


  1. In the pot, add oil, onion and fry until golden brown, save half for later use.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste, cumin seeds and mix well.
  3. Add tomatoes, salt, biryani masala, dried plums and yogurt and mix well.
  4. Add chickpeas, mint leaves and mix well, add green chilies, cover and put it on simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add water and mix well.
  6. Add yogurt, rice boiled, fried onion, dissolve yellow food color in water and add it.
  7. Add kewra essence, cover and steam cook for 8-10 minutes.
  8. Chana biryani is ready. Enjoy!
